Sinopsis
Taxonomic relationships of the various genera of medically important bacteria are currently determined using molecular techniques and numerical taxonomy. By contrast, clinical identification of a pathogen is determined by a variety of methods, often by demonstrating the presence of specific enzyme activities. Current laboratory methods are rapidly changing. In this review book, critical standard culture media and identification methods are presented along with the newer methods because many of the older methods will continue to be used by some laboratories and will appear on national examinations.
